This 1930s Lakewood home has a designer’s touch and a nonprofit connection

In the 26 years that the Robisons have owned this Lakewood Tudor-style home, they’ve updated, renovated and personalized it along the way.

Homeowner Lisa Robison is an interior designer and the founder and board chair of Dallas nonprofit Dwell with Dignity. Robison and her husband raised their two children in the home, and she started the nonprofit in the driveway of the Lakewood property.

6722 Lakeshore Drive is a 4,308-square-foot home with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and one half-bathroom. It was built in 1939, and Lisa Robison said her family was the fourth set of owners. Robison was in design school when she and her husband bought the house and said it was the architecture and design that drew her to the property.

“The space where you live is so transformative,” Robison said, speaking of how her home design career inspired her to start the nonprofit. “Your space not only reflects who you are, but it informs who you are.”

She researched its history, even speaking to the original homeowner’s granddaughter. Robison said she learned that Wilshire Baptist Church, located near the Lakewood neighborhood, was founded in the home years ago.

The Robisons’ additions to the home included multiple screened-in porches (upstairs and downstairs), a closet in the primary suite, the family room and the upstairs study. They also renovated all of the bathrooms over the years and the backyard. In 2018, they updated the kitchen with the help of designer Chad Dorsey and the firm .

Inside the Robisons’ Lakewood home, the living room has a fireplace on one end and French doors that connect the space to a screened patio. The dining room, which has another fireplace, connects to the living room through an arched doorway. The renovated kitchen and family room are a large, open-concept design with cabinets, fixtures and decorative accents in tones of white, gray, black and brown. The kitchen has a wet bar and built-in cabinets on one side and a pantry and a prep kitchen on the other side, which is separated by two pocket doors. Between the kitchen and the family room, there’s a breakfast area with room for a dining table.

The guest bedroom suite is located on the first level of the home. Three more bedrooms are located upstairs, including the primary suite. There’s also a living room and an office on the second level of the home. The primary suite has a marble bathroom and a balcony that overlooks the backyard.

Outside, there’s a pool in the backyard, an outdoor cooking area and a two-car garage with a guest house and gym.

The home is listed for $2,799,000 by Richard Graziano of Allie Beth Allman & Associates. It is currently under contract.
