A new addition to Startstone’s already extensive catalogue of engineered stone products, the Ibrido (pronounced ee-bri-tho – Italian for ‘hybrid’) collection offers an industry first sustainable solution.

Engineered stone benchtops are often made using a combination of quartz, polymers and pigments. As with many building materials, these products can also contain silica, a dust found in many stones, rocks, clays and gravels. Silica dust particles will disperse into the air when these products are cut into and if inhaled, they can become quite dangerous to our health. You will find more detailed information on the health risks associated with exposure to silica on the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention website.

Smartstone has recently launched their new Ibrido collection: an industry first selection of low silica engineered stone products that are suitable for use throughout the home. This unique product uses Smartston’es exclusive NewGen formulation combined with innovative hybrid print technology to create an end product with advanced surface aesthetics and superior integrity. In a nutshell: Everything we all know and love about Smartstone’s products in a ‘new and improved’ format!

The Ibrido engineered stone collection is comprised of just 28% silica and engineered from 56% recycled material.

At its launch, this collection includes seven luxurious colour options in jumbo-sized slabs measuring 3200 x 1600mm, offering a flexible solution for use as a bathroom, laundry or kitchen benchtop or for use in vertical installations such as splashbacks for example.

With the Ibrido Collection, Smartstone embraces genuine innovation and product advancement to offer a market-leading range of engineered surfaces that deliver on aesthetics, quality, value and with an incredibly low-silica content.

This year, interior design trend are focusing on the comforts of home and nature and our ability to create a nurturing and tranquil environment within our interior spaces. You will notice more natural textures and colour palettes being included in interiors moving forward with lashing of emerald green, deep ocean blues and plenty more!

The new collection includes an impressive selection of different colour options, each inspired by natural stone products. Offering an ultra-realistic look that is almost indistinguishable to the real thing, each option ties in exceptionally well with a range of trending materials and finishes used in kitchen design and interior design today, from rustic timbers and concrete to striking brass or gold hardware.

The Ibrido collection promises a sustainable design solution for kitchen design and interior spaces, paving the way for more intentional decisions in the design and construction industries. We are certainly looking forward to not only including this luxurious stone in our own projects but also seeing what’s next from the brilliant minds over at Smartstone!
