For years no one could get enough of the Modern Farmhouse vibe with its crisp color palette, black frame windows, and shiplapped walls. But as you know, design has turned toward the traditional with creamier whites, darker woods, and softer lines, making the Modern Farmhouse of a few years ago feels a little cold. Today’s dream home beautifully shows how to update the look, infusing the white modern farmhouse aesthetic with the warmer sophistication of the English country cottage. Take a look how creamier tones, darker woods, and organic textures can still feel fresh and modern.

The space is pretty and light-filled with walls painted Sherwin Williams Snowbound. Snowbound is a soft white with slightly taupe undertones. It reads as a crisper white paired with the custom creamy cabinetry. Both the upper cabinet and open shelving looks are replaced with a floor to ceiling pantry cabinet that provides plenty of storage while leaving the rest of the kitchen walls open and available for a pair of black-framed windows that let in the light.

A light coating of dark stain highlights beautiful wood grain for a really pretty organic look. The mix of wood tones with the dark island agains the light wood floors adds depth and interest. The flooring is from Bella Cera Belle Harbor French Oak Collection in Woodhaven.

The wood is paired with natural stone. The island is Nero Orion Honed Granite and the perimeter counters are Giotto Quartzite. Both of these beautiful natural stones create a high-end authentic vibe that does take a little more maintenance then man-made quartz, but are more durable than marble.

Woven cane furniture is a trending traditional furniture look. Paired with modern accents like the brass midcentury floor lamp, it creates an interesting style mix full of warmth and texture.

This attic bathroom is an amazing use of space. The entire ceiling and walls are lined with textured zellige-look tile. The shades of creamy white in the tile are a beautiful update on the more modern black and white bathroom. The look is softer and more inviting. Shower fixtures suspend from the ceiling and drain into a 4’x4′ space in front of the free-standing tub. The black herringbone tile floor adds a bit of edge that coordinates with the black frame window and fixtures.

In the mudroom, the wall treatment is vertical which has become a popular update on the horizontal ship-lap look. The lines give the illusion of height an feel more interesting against horizontal open shelving. A large apron sink finishes the farmhouse vibe. The look remains a trend, as beautiful as it is functional,
